Lately, I’ve become addicted to TVTropes. It’s a wiki for tropes – conventions in TV (and later other media) that aren’t quite clichés and get used over and over again. For example, the Bolivian Army Ending.
This got me thinking about Oddleg’s Star Wars roleplaying campaign. The campaign is well into its second year now and so there’s been plenty of time for character development. What makes the game so enjoyable is the characters – and they certainly are characters!
So here goes…
Mormar “the Magnificent” (an Ithorian, centre-above, played by me): The archetypal Dirty Coward. Has delusions of grandeur and thinks of himself as a Magnificent Bastard. He’s not. Nominally the leader of the group, he can be a Bad Boss.
Laitka (a Rodian, right-above, played by Ian): The Gambler and Grease Monkey. Thanks to Ian’s dice, Laitka often exhibits Improbable Aiming Skills to Save The Day. Despite his gambling tenancies, he’s often on Zhaan’s side during morality arguments.
Perit “Partykiller” (a Mon Calamari, left-above, played by Rob): Alledgedly a sniper but suffers from attending the Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy. Comical misses often result in Friendly Fire. Officially The Medic but Perit is often the reason why our team needs medical attention in the first place.
Zhaan (a Kel Dorian, left-above, played by Jon): A Reluctant Warrior who wishes he wasn’t stranded with a bunch of morally dubious idiots. Started out as our weakest party member but soon Took A Level In Badass as he discovered the power of The Force. Often the Only Sane Man.
Sindori (a Human, centre right-above, played by Charlie): Mercenary Soldier. Known for his Intrusive Questioning Technique. Probably Only In It For The Money rather than a Psycho For Hire. Probably.
Xerxies (a Quarren, centre right-above, played by Andrew): A variant of The Big Guy, Xerxies is a Religious Bruiser with his own cult. Often seen charging headlong into enemy fire, thus making him Too Dumb To Live.
