All I wanted was somewhere to sit!
As time went by it was obvious I needed a place too sit,
It's when I get up in the morning and the room is still unlit.
I dare not put the light on yet, the other half not too wake,
For the penalty of doing so is that cup of tea too make.
The office chair that's not used now could do with a new home,
So I pushed it to the bedroom, and by the bedside stood alone.
What a brilliant idea I thought, I can't wait until the morning,
That'll make life easier when I'm half-asleep and yawning.
Well sad to say it didn't work, well what else did you expect,
When I turned the light on the room was best part wrecked.
I had leaned across not half-awake and for that chair I made a leap,
But the damn thing swivelled round and threw me in a heap.
I pulled the wardrobe door off and out spilled all the cloths,
And down came all the toiletries that had sat there all in rows.
The jewellery and the makeup, well I cleared that with my elbow,
The talcum powder, what a mess, I was covered from head too toe.
All dazed and bruised I looked around, thought this'll take some sortin,
And then I heard that dreadful sound, a horrible kinda snortin.
I hadn't woken her indoors she simply hadn't heard me,
But half way down the stairs I heard "where's my cup of tea?"
Keep life simple, make her a cup of tea.
