Another good Saturday morning.

I have good news and bad news as they say, the good news is we had a couple of new members today, the bad news, or should I say sad news is, we cant really take any more, we are full up, unless we can create more activities to keep them all occupied I'm afraid anybody else will have to go on a waiting list, that's something I hadn't reckoned on.

Time was tight for the Friday night setting up as I was late home from work, on the plus side I didn't put so much in my van and I now realise I don't need to take so much. The others where already in the building and getting out the floor sheets and chatting, one and a half hours later and we are just talking turning and ready to go home. The following morning I arrive last again? With no comments made I just blended in with the others and said nothing.

Very soon the hall was buzzing with excited people, I said hello to the enthusiastic members and went through a number of items and away they went down the hall, no guesses where some of them went, pyrography of coarse, Kim had some big round badges and I think it was Derek that cut some ply to stick on and the juniors burnt their mark on, so now we have a permanent reminder of who is who, they where encouraged to create a symbol or jiggle their initials so they had something relevant they could use to sign their work, it produced some clever and interesting designs.

The main theme for today was turning pens as Derek and Dave had announced this last month, everybody wanted to turn these, some turned two, very popular is pen turning, not bothered me as yet but it looks like I'll have to visit Derek for some lessons so I can turn them on a Saturday morning if I'm asked. It's a useful project as it doesn't use much timber and it doesn't take much time. Emily turned a small Christmas tree with me which she stained various colours and Jordan wanted to turn a bowl, nasty bit of Oak but we got there, just.

Kayleigh & Blyth reminded me when it was time to stop half way through, Heather made Banana cake and we all had a good chat before we started again. A good number of pens where made and they all seemed keen to show them off when the parents came. I made a point of stopping ten minutes before the end this time, it gave us all time to chat and say goodbye. We had a few new faces this morning and just the right age group to.

So with all the goodbyes done it was time to pack up, and as usual my gear is last to go. With many hands it was in the van and we where locking the hall doors once again, and there goes another brilliant Saturday club.
