Another Good Club Night
December 17th 2003 Meeting
A social evening including wives and girlfriends, it was nice to see several new faces joining in with the fun
and games and chatting with the members.
There was a good spread of food up to the usual high standards supported by red and white wine, tea and coffee.
As promised there was a turn-in competition with four lathes working. The project was a carrier bag holder,
rather like a large duffel coat toggle with variations! As you can imagine there was a large variety of pieces turned
with team two winning, alas I was team three.
The monthly competition again provided some good quality pieces, paints and dyes
were used as a toy for Christmas was the theme. I for one would like some info on paints and dyes so
I'll do my research and let you know. If anybody has experience on this subject then an article or methods
would be useful.
There was a good number of quality prizes in the raffle, sadly my numbers didn't come up this time.
There were three pen and paper type quizzes to do in between all the festivities,
I must find out who compiles those, they are always different and cleverly thought out.
Lots of ideas about next month's competition, more research required! It's bobbins for beginners and intermediates.
Obviously the usual chat about turning issues and the never-ending problems with computer programmes now I'm doing
the Web site, but it will be all right once its all set up though, (Yea, I wish)
I was happy with my last minute touches to my competition entry, but I'm still loosing points on certain
details so I chat to the judge afterwards, note the details and file them, I'll go through them once in a while to remind me.
All in all it was a fun filled evening put together by the usual behind the scenes team.
Thanks guys and girls on behalf of all the members. I produced a Web news letter and a good number were taken
so let's hope that produces some more items for you all.
Finally the usual putting everything away, loading cars and vans, sweeping and vacuuming
and trying to keep your own stuff out of the way.
The thanking of the team and last minute loose ends to tie up and home.
Apart from that it was a quiet night!
