Another Good Club Night
November 19th 2003 Meeting
As promised we had John Davis to entertain us, he showed us various polishes on pre-turned light pulls and
then moved on to the turning, he used our club lathe to demonstrate turning a Red Fruit Marlee burr and then
he turned a bud vase from a Bankshia nut. He was very informative and entertaining as he worked.
He brought with him a good variety of timbers sections including burrs; the selection included Coolibar,
Red Fruit Marlee, Jarrah, Red Eucalyptus and Brown Marlee. This was the best selection of timber I have seen.
There was also a good selection of tools and sanding material for sale.
I'm sure I've got some of those timbers spelt wrong, perhaps somebody could send me the correct spelling please.
There were some interesting items for the competition and gallery tonight. As usual there wasn't enough
time to chat to every one and see all there was to see what with putting the Webb site on line
and putting faces to names of guys with Web info. As with other nights I really enjoyed the
company and entertainment.
There will be a detailed write up of tonight's events in our quarterly magazine, which will be on
the Web site soon after its edited, date to follow.
