About the Club

Purpose of the Association
  • To foster the Awareness of the woodturner's art and craft amongst woodturners and the general public
  • To provide a forum to encourage communication, exchange of ideas and experience, information and social intercouse amongst woodturners
  • To arrange meetings, demonstrations and exhibitions to promote the interest of woodturners



  • The Forest of Bere Woodturners Association was formed in 1994 by several members of the Hampshire Woodturners. It has since developed into a thriving club with a membership of over a hundred.

    How to Join

    If you wish to find out more about the club, why not come along to one of our club nights. If you like what you see, ask the Hon Secretary (at the meeting) for an application form. Memberships costs £24 per year. This includes regular newsletters and four quarterly club magazines. We also provide refreshments at the club nights (20p for a tea or coffee, and a biscuit).

    Meetings

    We meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month at The St Johns Ambulance Hall, Fraser Road, Bedhampton. Arrive 7.00 pm for 7.30 start. The theme for the monthly meetings varies between the following:

    Turn in, August 2003 Turn in.
    This usually comprises of four members each with a lathe and with a set piece to demonstrate, some of which have been requested by members. There's questions and answers along with the occasional have a go.

    Specialist Speaker \ Turner
    This could be a well-recognised turner or Company with associated products. We have two video cameras showing all the action through two high level televisions so nothing is missed.
    Barbecue, Skittle evening and master classes also fit in to our busy schedule.

    Always on hand is some one with that little bit off advise to help you with your own project, and the notice board for buying or selling between members.

    Equipment

    We have a video and book library on display at every meeting for members to hire for 50p. In addition on sale there is a supply of bowl blanks and the like.
